I Received an Environmental Violation Notice. What Should I Do?

An environmental violation notice creates urgency, but the first step is not to respond hastily. It is to understand exactly what the authority recorded and which deadline is running.

Check the authority, facts, location and deadline

Read the entire document and identify the issuing authority, the alleged conduct, date, location, legal basis, penalty and deadline for a defense or appeal.

Collect documents and evidence

Gather photographs, licenses, authorizations, plans, property records, previous protocols and communications with the environmental authority. These materials help clarify what actually happened.

Response and regularization may go together

An administrative defense may address facts, legal classification, responsibility or the penalty itself. At the same time, there may be an environmental situation that needs correction or regularization.

Protect the deadline

Even if some documents are still missing, organize the case immediately. The deadline stated in the notice should be treated as a priority.
