Environmental enforcement
Environmental Fines and Notices
An environmental fine or notice of violation should be reviewed immediately, with attention to the facts stated by the authority, the applicable deadline and the underlying environmental situation.
Understand the document first
Identify the issuing authority, alleged conduct, location, date, legal basis, penalty and response deadline. Inspection reports, photographs and property records may also be essential.
Technical response and regularization
Depending on the case, the response may require technical arguments, documents, field information and measures to correct or regularize the environmental issue.
Different agencies, different procedures
INEA, municipal agencies and federal authorities may follow different administrative procedures. The specific file should be reviewed rather than relying only on the fine amount.
Do not miss the deadline
Even if some documents are not yet available, organize the case quickly so the deadline and possible next steps are clear.
